fREQUENTLY aSKED qUESTIONS
How long will this process take?
Typically students go through the process over the course of 3-6 months. Intensives can be scheduled to reduce the number of months, but the time and effort commitment remains the same. Can you just help us with part of the prep? The pretest will see if your student doesn't need full support in certain areas (some kids may need less reading comprehension help for example), but splitting prep between Miss Lisa and the parent or another tutor, or even the student is against policy as it impacts outcome. What is your success rate? Outcome is not guaranteed, but the success rate with this program is very high. Most students gain 2-3 stanine points in 3-4 areas and some more than that. Why should my child do any prep at all? Some people question the ethics of prepping for the ISEE, but there are several good arguments to be made for preparation. First, the majority of students taking the ISEE have done some prep. Secondly, the test is normed 1-3 grade levels above what is taught in most American public schools. If students prep for the SAT and ACT, prep for the ISEE is a similarly acceptable process. Why is this all online? Most students take the online version of the ISEE these days. Doing the prep online helps students become accustomed with this process. Students are also able to access services across the country and more easily work around scheduling difficulties. Why do both my child and I have to sign a work commitment contact? Over the years Miss Lisa has observed that students who are the least successful with this program are the ones who have naught bought into the process and not followed through with the work commitment. Parents and students should both understand the commitment from the beginning and agree to the expectations. This increases the likelihood of a good outcome. Can you provide services outside of the US? Given time differences do not hinder online meetings students can be anywhere in the world. N-o matter the location students are required to order print materials and access certain websites. Why are your services so expensive? Depending on what area of the US or the world you live in, Miss Lisa's base rate is of $150 an hour may seem high. She has a sliding scale from that top rate based on income. This may be an option depending on circumstances. This is not a side-gig for Miss Lisa and given her specialty she charges accordingly. Please see reviews to the left for feedback from parents. Essentially, you get what you pay for. How easy is it to get on the schedule? Miss Lisa can accommodate 5-10 clients at one time. There is rolling enrollment as space is available and a waiting list is created when space is limited. How can I get my child stated?
